Enter the challenge to win a coaching session with our England Academy Coaches!

We want to help you:

  • To keep school & college leavers involved in rugby union when they join university.

  • Showcase your university and the benefits of university rugby.

  • Maximise the number of people playing or volunteering in rugby.

We want to set your male and female rugby teams a challenge. We want them to produce some short, snappy video content aimed at school & college leavers who may be joining your university to tell them why they should join the rugby team and benefits of university rugby. It may also address some of the key findings from our Year 13 school focus groups which told us:

  • Making new friends and being part of a new team are the top things which excite potential students about playing university rugby

  • Culture (initiations, drinking) is the biggest concern students have about university rugby.

  • Having the right playing level (including non-competitive teams) is the most important thing a university club can do to keep them engaged.

The students producing will know what works for their peers better than us, naturally the only condition is that it needs to adhere to existing university social media guidance.

Taking part is simple:

  1. Register using this form.

  2. Ask your men’s and women’s team produce a video aimed at school & college leavers (make sure they get it approved by the university).

  3. Load it to the university/sports YouTube

  4. Promote using social media and your networks to schools and school leavers.

  5. At 4pm on the closing day (2nd July) email us with a screen shot of the YouTube showing views and likes.

For those videos with the most views, school engagement and closest to the brief, we will offer those students a money can’t buy experience with England Rugby along with £200 of Gilbert vouchers.

We hope you’ll join us to retain and recruit those joining the university in September and take up the challenge.

Best of Luck

England Rugby
